Fractured:As bones can break so can the human soul
As so many people may understand. the pain from a broken bone is intense. The break itself shows clear on the image of an x-ray machine. We can see it as a perfect break or on occasion the piercing of a bone through one’s body. Just reading or writing this many can feel the searing of this very unwanted pain. After the x-ray some may need casting until the doctor feels you are ready for some kind of therapy. 6-8 weeks go by and it’s time for physical rehabilitation. Six more weeks and the doctor says you should be as good as new. Not so, not really. It may take weeks, it may take years but that break will never be the same. You will never be the same. On cold or rainy days the bone that was broken aches and throbs. Years later you are told you have arthritis that has set in due to that same break. Some left with limps, or a shortening of the limb. Some may lose that limb completely but always feel the aches of the invisible limb. You may wonder why? Why are we talking broken bones when the title is about the human soul. The correlation is clear. The term Fractured is poignant. The meaning is that once we are broken it so so very hard to be “as good as new”. The human soul is encased deep within us all. Environment and society plays a big part in the development of who we are as human beings. A battered child, a beaten wife or any human that endures a traumatic event is forever changed. Fractured, but to the core. How do we operate and call ourselves humanity when we are capable of so much violence, hate, greed, power and evil. The evils that run within and around us to damage those we love. To fracture our very beings. A child who has been molested will grow up, there bruises will heal but the very essence of who they could have been was robbed, broken, and thrown away. Those in a domestic violence situation are beaten down, a person so once filled with dreams and life lost in a desolate and lonely hell. As a bone goes through various stages so they say of healing it is never as it was in the same way our memories, our lives and our entire being is never as it should have been. The circles of hate and violence have escalated in this country and the deviant’s who portray them has grown even more numerous. How can this country come together when so many are lost. So many broken with missing pieces. So many fractured that no therapy could ever fill the void of darkness that was cast upon them by another’s hand. We are human beings. Perhaps someday eyes will be opened and people will act like human beings. Where does it start? Where does it begin?
I will tell you one thing . It begins at home.
